On Friday my wife and I tried out what I think will be our pre-
Thanksgiving feast wine. (Yep, with all the family in town, one feast
isn't enough; at last count I think we were up to six separate dinners
plus two brunches and an elevenses.)
It's the Beaulieu 2004 Rutherford Napa Cabernet Sauvignon - found at
the local State Store for $25. Not, of course, on the LCB website
(more on that later) so if you want to get some, do it the PA way -
Hope and pray!
(But I digress)
Here's what I liked about it. It's a solid wine with good flavors, no
bitterness and low acidity but still a little tannin. It's going to go
well with the brisket that we're cooking, I think and not fight it out
with it. It wasn't by any means a life-changing experience to try it
out, but it both started and finished well.
Here's what I didn't: Not much. I might, perhaps, have wanted to get a
good Bordeaux or Chateaneuf-de-Pape for this, and this just plain
isn't it. But what it is is a California Cabernet with, really,
nothing wrong with it. Having realized that fact I'm quite happy with
it.

Y'all have a great Thanksgiving.
