So after seeing a mention of it in the Inquirer, last night I bought a
bottle of Bluecoat Gin at the State Store. This is a "craft" gin, made
in Northeast Philly, and sells for about the same as Tanqueray or
Boodles. An article at
http://www.citypaper.net/articles/2006-04-13/food.shtml gives an
overview of the distillery complete with the quote
"We love English gin, but we do it better. And why should we drink
English gin? Didn't we win the war?"
There's part of me that's rooting for it just because it is locally
produced, but the word is that this is a tasty gin regardless. I'll
post again after I've had a chance to try it once or twice.
