Last night we cracked open an Argentinian Malbec, the Altos Las
Hormigas Reserva. I bought this in a State Store back in October but it
no longer seems to be carried, more's the pity. It's a spicy wine with
a lot of body when you take it in your mouth but not much tannic
aftertaste. I paid $20 for it which seems now like a reasonable price.
You can recognize the bottle by the ants on the label (in Spanish, las
hormigas) but be aware that there is also a $10 or so non-reserve.

While I was at the Devon state store yesterday, however, I bought a
bottle of 2001 Château Taillefer. This is a Bordeaux, from Pomerol,
and normally lists at $40-50, as best as I can tell from Google. The
state store had it at $19.99. I thought it was worth a gamble.

I can't find this online at www.lcb.state.pa.us so I can't say whether
other stores have it as well.

Oh, and p.s., wish me a happy anniversary tomorrow night; Ginny and I
are going to Gilmore's in West Chester, I'm bringing a split of Veuve
Clicquot.
