Does anyone know a good book to read for the beginner. I would love to
make wine tasting one of my hobbies, but all the materials I read on
the subject seem to be more of a consumer guide and less of the study
of wine as an art in flavor. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

_Great Wines Made Simple_ by Andrea Immer, former sommelier at Windows
on the World, was a good book for me - it focuses on tastes, scents,
and the reasoning behind them. Simple stuff, like a hot climate will
often result in a fruitier taste, as well as more advanced tasting.

is the Amazon listing for it.

Ralph Steadman's _The Grapes of Ralph_ is no good at all for learning
about wine, but it's still a great book so I just have to mention it.
