Burgans Albariño

We went to dinner last night at a brand-new restaurant, name withheld
because they obviously were going through a lot of teething pains.
What my wife and I did both enjoy very much was the Spanish white we
had, the Burgans Albariño Rias Baixas. Rias Baixas is in Galicia, the
corner of Spain that juts out above Portugal, and the Albariño grape,
I was interested to learn, also is very commonly used in Portugese
Vinho Verde.

The Burgans has a sweet taste but is in no way cloying. I saw it
described as "fragrant" and I'll go along with that. It finished very
nicely with no unpleasant aftertaste and also had some mineral
flavors.

The bad news is that apart from that one restaurant I don't know where
you can get it in Pennsylvania - certainly not right now at the State
Stores. Across the bridge Canal has it for just under ten bucks which
I think it's worth every penny of. Just make sure you pair it with
something that won't conflict with the sweetness.
