But to start, I pretty much had to order one of the specialty
cocktails off the menu. It was the "Garden Variety" and described as
"Our springtime gimlet." It was pretty simple - gin, a little lime
juice, and of course a healthy dollop of cucumber juice. Garnished
with a thick slice of cucumber.
It was really very tasty, once you got past the whole "Hey, someone
put cucumber juice in my drink!" reaction. Refreshing, and the amount
of gin was enough to add flavor without overpowering the, um, you
know, cucumber taste.
I am told that we have a couple of cucumber plants growing in our
garden this year. I might have to get a martini glass and try and make
my own.
