Anyway, I mentioned before the Altos las Hormigas Reserve and promised
I'd try the nine-dollar non-reserve. Well, it's a very tasty Malbec for
the price and I recommend it. There's a little bit of spice and tannin
in the wine but nothing overwhelming, no off tastes that I could
detect. It has good body to it and goes well with beef and pasta.
(Probably other things, but that's what I happened to have for dinner.)
The downside is that the LCB does not seem to have this wine either in
the regular or the reserve now. Sigh. Maybe you should plan to buy a
bottle for your next dinner in New Jersey. It's the bottle with the
