This is a thought-provoking picture of a waste containment lagoon in
Hungary. The lagoon reportedly released 1 million cubic feet of toxic
sludge, containing the by-products of an aluminum manufacturing
process. Its not entirley clear from the picture what the berm is
made of, but it appears to be some sort of "solid" material based on
the blocky appearance of the pieces. Presumably there was some sort
of shear failure that occurred. Remind yourself that "over-
engineering" can be a good thing in certain instances.
