Though I have the distinct sense that I am mostly talking to myself
here, I have some information that might be useful to people in the
program. You may have noticed that our Bod cards don't open the doors
to the DPIR at night and at the weekend. Here's what we need to do to
get ones that will:

"I am told that if you wish to have 24 hour access you need to have
your card specially registered via Maria Moreno, the Courses Manager.
She is in the office diagonally across from mine. I think you need to
see her about this and sign a form, and she will then ask Carol Petty
at reception to confirm this on her computer."

Dear all,

This issue was brought to my attention for the first time yesterday. It
makes no sense for individuals to have to seek out access to the dept;
it should be granted to all as standard, since no request is ever
denied. I am working on this with the dept and will keep you posted. In
the meantime if anyone is desperate for access to the DPIR they should
go to Maria.

Lee,

Thanks. It would be much better if we could just be granted access,
without having to track down and bother two people.

A word of warning from the defunked IR web forum:

Those who have not had they keycards approved for evenings and weekends
might find themselves in my unfortunate position, should they ever
enter the Manor Road Library while they work (until 7:00pm, I think)
and try to leave when they no longer do any nobody is around. Once the
person working at the desk has gone home, all you can do is call
security or wait in hope of someone with a working card wandering by.
Neither is a recommended Friday night activity.

Have a good weekend everyone.
