I get the bsdmag.org free BSD magazine and have learned much.

The latest issue covers GIMP7, among other programs!

Very interesting that a crime lab which did not have the money to set up
a lab for
comparison of photo of any crime victim to the found skull, for help in
finding the
identity, was established using the GNU/FOSS program GIMP.

This GIMP reconstruction and crime solving solution, using GIMP, was
featured
last evening, Tuesday, September 30, 2014, on the cable channel
HLN:"Forensic Files".


The skeleton of a young woman was found behind an apartment house, and she
was identified, and a serial killer charged, in the case. The "Long
Haul Murderer",
John Wayne Boyer, was captured and convicted.

This young lady, Scarlet Woods, was only one of at least three victims.
