See ‘The Tempest’ at Manchester Jazz Festival!Following an incredible parade at Liverpool Brazilica the Creating Carnival crew are gearing up for a static performance at Manchester Jazz Festival.
This free performance will feature musicians, dancers and costumes created by a new emerging team of carnival artists and producers.
Funded by Arts Council England, Global Grooves commissioned and recruited six artists (some of which had never met before) to create a new piece of work from scratch and we think it’s the best one yet!
You can see the incredible fruits of their labour this Sunday 24th July, 2.15pm, Albert Square, Manchester, M2 5DB.
About 'The Tempest'
Join the Global Grooves cast to celebrate a classic Shakespeare play retold through global carnival traditions. Featuring influences from the Devil Mas of Trinidad and movement and rhythm inspired by Afro-Brazilian deities, the literary characters of Caliban, Prospero and Miranda will fill Albert Square with colour and energy. www.creatingcarnival.org
For more information visit the Manchester Jazz Festival Website here.
We will look forward to seeing you there!
Until then here is a sneaky peak of their parading production at Liverpool Brazilica last Saturday.
