Bulldog was a lot of fun, everybody should do this one once, even if it's just the 25k.  Fun course other than the quad-burning downhill, nice views (why don't I live in Malibu?), good support, friendly people - although I'm sure I was the fat one, these people are nuts.

First lap I felt pretty good,
did okay on the big uphill, rocked the downhill, passed a few people. Kept myself totally waterlogged with the hope of surviving the second lap.  Prob close to 20 bottles through the whole 50k, my carpool buddy (yeah, that's right, Stu) didn't believe me but I swear it's true.  Second lap I rocked the uphill, hip flexors gave out about mile 21, suffered lots on the downhill.  Recovered nicely and had a strong finish.  5:20, I'm quite satisfied, but now that 5 hour mark is bugging me.  Got lucky with the weather, would have been very different if it was 95 degrees out there.  Surprising how with that many people out there it can be such a solo event, although I did have a number of people I was leapfrogging with, mostly on the second lap.

And apparently ultra runners are all a bunch of liars.  "Oh, we're all so friendly, the events are chill, people actually enjoy the rest areas and the scenery, nobody's in a hurry."  Bunch of B.S.  Everybody I saw was flying through the aid stations, the volunteers were all surprised when I didn't mind taking a little time to fill some bottles,.only one other guy even stopped during the 10 minutes I hung out at the drop-bag spot half way through.  Freaks.  Course, add to that that most of the people ahead of me that I was talking to at the finish apparently were just using this as a training run, planning to do another 25 miles today (I can barely walk), just easy training stuff on the way to the AC 100, among others.  Freaks, I repeat.

Next?  Maybe http://www.pct50.com/index.php?option=com_frontpage&Itemid=1?  Other suggestions?

David, Congratulations to you on that amazing accomplishment!
That sure looks like one tough race!

Is anyone aware of any 25K races in the San Diego area? I ran 3 halfs this year and am looking to run a full next year, so a mid distance would be great training :)

I think you are my hero. 5:20 is awesome. Nice work! You put the smack
down on me and Tedd from the year before. I think we're doing the
avalon 50 in Janurary. That's a super cool race and a good little
romantic getaway. Ted is doing the PCT50 later this year. I think
there will be two pct's so check em both out. Again awesome job david!

Anil you should check out the competitor magazine. I think there are a
couple of race series that are 25k or so. And check out some ultras
that are 50k like david did because there might be a 25k option. Have
an awesome day! -stu
