imaging slides on Opera

Does anyone have experience with imaging slides on the Opera?
I know that there is a one slide slide holder that PE offers, but I
have already a different one. plate.ini configuration is no problem
for me, but there is a double peak in the autofocus routine (cover
slip-sample interface and sample-slide holder interface). PE therefore
suggests to use the first peak to focus on (immersion water-cover slip
interface) and to use the focus height as the thickness of the cover
slip.

Now, how to do that? I heard that there is a software patch. What does
it do? Just registry settings? Is is working robustly?
