It has been a few years since I visited Chicago at peak hype for civic tech and open government.

Rather than finding opportunities to replicate the Smart Chicago and ChiHackNight models around the nation, we've entered an era where the path toward our city by city civic tech dreams are far more complex and resource scarce than we had hoped.

That might just be my perspective, I'd like to find out and exchange views over lunch, coffee, or an early Happy Hour (I have a 6 pm commitment on Oct 5.) What have we learned over the last ten years of civic tech? And where do we want to be in 10 years? That should be an interesting conversation.

If you are interested, post a reply and we'll see what make sense time and place wise for connecting.

By the way come to Saint Paul on Sept 23-24 for: http://codeswitch.mn  - Disrupting Equity - Hack for Change

Flights can be under $100 round trip to Mpls at times.

Thanks,
Steve

P.S. Where on Slack (I assume) is Chicago's civic tech crowd connecting online?

It is a go:

Thank you Derek Eder.

See some of you Thursday.

We will be talking Global Civic Tech and Cities ... very informal. On that note, you are invited to join the 7300 global members on the Open Government and Civic Technology Facebook Group:
