From Friday evening to Sunday noon Datakind is holding an event to introduce social service organizations to designers and developers, hoping that ideas, and code will germinate. This is part of a series of events across the country.

Organized by DataKind, formerly Data Without Borders, this is related to the pledge by the Obama administration to funnel $200 million into local data projects that support non-profits and governments. A couple of data people from the administration are rumored to be attending.

DataKind is organized by Jake Porway, a developer on the New York Times data visualization team.

It's free, and food and drink is included.

All my work has come into being as a result of a 'Eureka” moment.' All of it. But you can only have these if you know the product/problem/company/market/consumer/competition, inside out. Only with total knowledge can you transit from understanding to insight. “Eureka!” makes it sound a lot easier than it is.

If anyone is driving to the event and needs parking, we have parking as low as $8 right next to the event!

Let me know if you have any questions.

Thanks!
