Subject: Fall Retreat at Our Lady
of the Angels Monastery in Crozet
… Graduates of Monsignor Michael's Spiritual Direction Course will present a one day retreat at Our Lady of the Angels monastery in Crozet Virginia on Saturday, October 20, 2007 from 8:30-4:30pm.
The morning theme will be Centering Prayer, led by Adrienne Carlee, a member of Contemplative Outreach and experienced presenter. Ms. Carlee will discuss the theological background and method of centering prayer. After a practice session, she will answer questions and facilitate a discussion. [Centering Prayer is a method of prayer, which prepares us to receive the gift of God's presence. Traditionally called contemplative prayer, it consists of responding to the Spirit of Christ by consenting to God’s presence and action within. It furthers the development of contemplative prayer by quieting our faculties to cooperate with the gift of God’s presence. (From the Contemplative Outreach Website.)]
The afternoon theme will be Franciscan prayer, led by Nadine Ellero, a lay Franciscan and SDI graduate, and Tim Short, SDI grad, and experienced Spiritual Director. Together, they will explore both contemporary and traditional aspects of Franciscan prayer.
We hope you can join us and learn more about these very meaningful prayer forms. As before, there will be plenty of time for quiet, reflection, walking, or just enjoying this sacred place. Hopefully the fall colors will be in all their glory!
