Hello,

A couple of late dragonflies this October.

The first, a Saffron-winged Meadowhawk on 8 October 2024 in Stonecliffe, Renfrew County may not be that late but it is the latest I have ever seen (photo by Vicki Easton).

The second was today (26 October 2024), a male Arrow Clubtail at Beach Rd in Brantford. This is definitely the latest I have seen for this species that is not uncommon in Brant County along the Grand River. What is notable is that this individual looked to be in fine shape. Other individuals that I have seen in mid-October in the past have been quite "ragged" with damaged wings. This dragonfly appeared to be in fine shape and might make it into November with the mild weather expected in the next week. A real survivor.
