Mass Emergence of Spatterdock Darners-Happy Valley

While walking down the hill at Happy Valley Forest in York today (near New Scotland, Ontario), I was surprised to come across large numbers of male and female Spatterdock Darners, seemingly recently emerged. They were hawking along the sunny parts of the hill,
especially near the pond. I was unaware that this species was present here. I counted about 12 individuals, but there were almost certainly more. At one point I had three males perched on one twig! Also present was a female Lilypad Clubtail.
