I wonder how it may compare to Dragonflies and Damselflies of the East by Dennis Paulson…

Hi Sarah,

Having not seen the book yet I can't say for certain, but if you have Ed's Damselflies of the North East, you could compare that to the damselflies in Paulson to get some idea perhaps. Ed's art work is spectacular, and for a visual of the dragonflies I expect the artwork to blow the photos in Paulson out of the water.

Hi all,
I had the good fortune to be asked to review the guide last fall. It is as Kyle says, well worth the wait. The same spectacular level of imagery with user friendly layout and comparative design. Maps are as modern as it gets as well (it will be interesting to see if he followed up on some Ontario recommended edits, but Ed it meticulous).  It is in a class by itself and will be the new standard for North American Odonata. Brace yourselves :)

I used the "read sample" function on Amazon to take a peek. Quick comparison from that limited peek. Paulson relies on photos, usually one of each. Lam has artwork with multiple views, one species per page.

One never has enough field guides on the shelf. Although I am tempted by the ebook version available directly from Princeton.
