Yahoo isn't letting me get to the next section to archive, so I'll have to find a way to get there. In the mean time, this list is officially starting up, even though the old list archives are still on the site. I don't know when I'll be able to get them all moved to the wiki and delete them off the group page, but I think it's safe to assume that will take a while. So, I'll try to bring in some characters today, and you're welcome to use characters you have already been playing, or introduce new ones. Whatever the case being, we'll all begin in some generic fairy-tale place and can build on things from there.

 

I submitted several profiles with links to voices of those characters included. I sent them in groups according to what they were, and am looking at sending in a character from each type to begin with. Though I might end up bringing in more than one non-magical everyday human from my lot.

 

Haven't figured that out yet.

I remember trying to go back to the first of the archive before - Post 1 through 300 or something - and not being able to get there when I wanted to take over Magic, a feline friend of Anglacia. I was looking for a bio or something on her, but I couldn't get to them. They may have been deleted.

I happened on quite a few of these voices by accident, starting with a few years ago when Yahoo had ads for "Talking Characters" from "Sitepals" on their site.

 

Upon learning it was what's called "Online tts (text to speech) demo" I started looking up "tts demos" on google, and eventually found quite a few others. And what was even more amazing was how many I could make into character voices by getting them to say the right things.I hadn't set out to find character voices at first, but ended up going "Hey, this could be so-and-so!" It doesn't always work out the way I like, and I have to change some wording, or even use another character's voice when I want a page title spoken. But getting them to say their names worked out well.

 

With most of them, you can save the .wav file of the voice you select to speak the text you enter. I did that and converted the wavs to mp3s using the Audacity program, then uploaded the files to one of the geocities sites I have so links could be provided to the voice samples.

 

I have my computer set up so Pippi tells me when I have new email too. *Grins*

 

I discovered the same thing about the archives, they only go back to message 920. Liz culd've deleted the first part of the archive or maybe yahoo did, I'm not sure. Hey, I could try to check the logs under management and find out. I know one of Orianna's was for sure deleted, she had launched a troll attack on Wendell's kingdom - probably trying to set it up to have Orianna save the day and get Wendell into her arms. *Groans*
