MPD Makes Arrest in Southeast Shooting
(Washington, DC) – The Metropolitan Police Department announces the arrest of a suspect involved in a shooting.
On Thursday, August 21, 2025, at approximately 8:08 a.m., Sixth District officers responded to the 1600 block of 23rd Street, Southeast, for the sounds of gunshots. Upon arrival, officers located evidence of a shooting but no victim.
The investigation revealed that following a minor motor vehicle collision involving the suspect and the victim’s vehicles, the suspect fired multiple gunshots in the direction of the victim. The victim was not injured.
On Thursday, September 4, 2025, as a result of the detective’s investigation, 44-year-old Earl Harris of Southeast, DC, was arrested pursuant to a DC Superior Court arrest warrant and charged with Assault with Intent To Kill.
