All Pro BBQ Dogs
1/2 medium onion
1/2 green pepper, chopped
1/4 cup chopped celery
1 Tbsp. butter or margarine, melted
3/4 cup ketchup
1/2 cup water
2 Tbsp. lemon juice
1 1/2 Thsp. vinegar
2 tsp. Worcestershire sauce
1 1/2 Tbsp. sugar
3/4 tsp. ground mustard
8 frankfurters
8 hot dog buns
Sauté onion, green pepper & celery in butter in a Dutch oven until
tender; add ketchup, water, lemon juice, vinegar, Worcestershire
sauce, sugar & mustard. Cover and cook over medium heat for 10
minutes, stirring occasionally. Add frankfurters; simmer an
additional 5 minutes or until franks are thoroughly heated. Cool.
at the tailgate
Place on grill away from heat for 10 to 15 minutes to reheat. To
serve, place in buns and Spoon sauce on top.
Serves 8
