ADMIN: Listmom Still Out of Commission...Mostly!

Since I last wrote to the lists on March 9...not much has improved.
I do have the new computer in place, but this has been the bumpiest
transition between computers I've ever had...and we've had other
technology issues as well.
I've been trying to do my papers for Clipping-Cooking (as well as
Diane's as she is on vacation for the next two weeks), but I haven't
been able to much else for the lists...and I haven't had time for
personal e-mail.
I won't go in to all the hairy details, but here is some of what's
been going on:
(1) Trouble getting two optical drives (CD/DVD burners) to read blank discs.
(2) Preferences for old programs (including all-important license
keys) disappearing on the new computer.
(3) Alerts from old, unused programs popping up on the new computer.
(4) Connectivity issues: hard time connecting (at first) and staying
connected to the internet on new computer.
(5) External hard drive seeming to die (without recent back up
because of above-mentioned optical drive problem); found out to be a
power cord issue (but this power cord is out of stock with the
manufacturer).
(6) Printer at store computer dying completely. New printer not
quite same in the details of printing.
(7) Keyboard and mouse go a little flaky after new printer installation.
(8) Disc stuck in drive in new computer; nothing will seem to get it out!
So...its been a frustrating couple of weeks. I've still got to make
some calls today to Earthlink, Apple, and LaCie!
