Author Teleconferences
Chris Bohjalian, the author of "Before You Know Kindness" our September
selection has offered to do a teleconference with us. The date for
that teleconference will be September 21, 2006 from 7-8 PM EST. The
call is open to any of our book club members. You just need to call in
to a special number and use a passcode which will follow in an e-mail
closer to the date.
** If you have an idea for an author that we should connect with,
please let me know. I will look into what we can do to involve that
author in our book club.
Other Author Events
We are also setting up teleconferences with the following authors for
your enjoyment:
- Susan Swan - "What Casanova Told Me"
- John Shors - "Beneath a Marble Sky"
Although these books are not current selections, I thought it would be
great to line up as many of these teleconferences as possible. I will
be recording each of them and uploading them for download so please,
watch your e-mail for times, dates, etc.

1. I need 1 volunteer to read a selected poem for our September
Thursday meeting. If you care to volunteer for this, please let us
know!
2. Get online and join the forum if you haven't already! If you don't
quite know your way around the web, e-mail us and we can set up a time
to teach you! We'll get you set up on the message board, teach you how
to post, etc. Just let us know! Visit the message board here:
http://ovbookclub.proboards52.com/index.cgi. Our online members and
local members can connect here and it's a lot of fun!
3. I'd like to announce the winners of the Roddy O'Doyle contest!
Tonight at our book club training session, we put the qualifying
members into a "hat" and I had one of the members there pull out the
winners. They are:
Trina Lamarche, Renee Kemp, Crystal McLeod and Vicky Rae Burns!
Congratulations! Please contact me so that I know how to get you your
copy of the book.
Watch your e-mail for more information on new contests that we'll be
holding to give out more rare copies of Roddy O'Doyle's "Paula

Other News
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
The Petawawa Library has joined forces with us to bring our book club
to their patrons and to allow us to host future meetings in their
beautiful facilities. They host many author events and will be
bringing in the books from our book club list so that they are readily
available. A special thank you to the library for helping us out so
much! Check out their website at www.petawawapubliclibrary.ca.
The Renfrew & Arnprior Book Shops are extending the discount (15%) to
the rest of the book club selections. So, if you are nearby, pop in
and grab your books from them! Also, I put links to both Chapters and
Amazon on the message board and the website. If you are going to make
online purchases, please consider going through that link and save
yourself some money!
Sincerely,
Erin Blaskie
