Australian Carrot Clarinet--amazing!

Dedicated to all the parents who spent a fortune providing their child with a clarinet.

Hi John,

That was a most interesting demonstration. It makes me wonder if one could make a French Horn out of a zucchini for example?

When I was growing up (a process that still continues to this day by the way ;=) my Mommy told me to eat my vegetables. Perhaps if I had saved even one carrot then today I could be playing a carrot clarinet as well as an ebony one!

Hi Barry
I thought band members would find it interesting and get a smile. Oh, the money that could have been saved!

Barry, if it is a "French" horn then, "courgette" rather than "zucchini". (zucchino=singular). For a piccolo...zucchino ok! lol.  And Mom used to say "Don't play with your food".  Thanks for the summer chuckles.
On a sad note, Bill Barr is in the hospital and will be going to a residence in a few days. He has vascular dementia and the beginning of Alzheimer. He will be 89 on the 10th of July.

Hi Italo,

It is sad news when for us as kids we really had many years to enjoy and did .however when you read about our pears who taught us going through difficult times it is difficult to read. we hope bill is resting and gets continued good care .

Hi Italo,

You are, of course, quite correct about courgette. MEA CULPA! (Isn't the traditional Latin so much better than the current .. "MY BAD"). However, language evolves!

Thanks for the news, albeit very sad news, about Bill. My thoughts and prayers will be with him.

Hi Italo,

Please pass along my best wishes to Bill on his birthday today. I know from my experience that dementia is very cruel, not only affecting the person the self, but those loved ones trying to care for them.

Take care.
Mike

HI Italo,

In all reality Bill Barr is fortunate to have the early signs of vascular dementia and at 89 years of age very fortunate to be that age before the disease sets in . Many others have this from 50 years and up and for them it is a very long haul on friends ,family and others who must contend with this illness .
So if one is to get this disease being over 80 and indeed 89 is a help for the family .my prayers will include him .

Thank you gentlemen for your concern and wishes for Bill. I shall pass them on. Actually, Garry, the dementia has progressed, paranoia, confusion, aphasia etc. He has some good moments remembering incidents. His family is out west and Toronto. I am his power of attorney and it isn’t easy at MY age.  However, we both have the same lawyer, a former Tech student, Ross Talarico. Garry, you are right about the age. Thanks to all on his behalf.

Hi Italo,

I am sorry to hear the disease has progressed as it usually does ..Life is not fair sometimes and when you know a person for as long as you have it is hard to see them in this state .It requires a lot of patience and the knowledge that is a disease that cannot be cured and you  understand that what they say might not make sense and they say things that if you took them as word might be insulting however it is the disease talking not them .God Speed.
