The Global Health Initiative will host TWO EVENTS for Teddy:

Discussion: Holistic International Development with Q&A
Friday, November 20th
10:00 – 11:30 AM
Jennings Hall 140

Teddy will provide a candid reflection of global health challenges and how it has personally affected him, Kenya, and the world. He will also discuss the passion he has to reverse the spread of malaria, HIV/AIDS, and TB through strengthening health care systems in Kenya. He will also talk about New Horizons Initiative, a non-profit organization he has founded to help him achieve this goal in Kenya.

Lecture: Ending Extreme Poverty Through Social Ventures
Friday, November 20th
3:30 – 4:30 PM
Jennings Hall 155

In this talk, Teddy will introduce and contextualize the broader problem of development and sustainability. He will use New Horizons Initiative, his own non profit, and Acumen Fund as case studies. Furthermore, Teddy will talk about the role of college students not merely as receptors of knowledge, but creators of knowledge and ventures that drive social change with the goal of ending poverty.

Teddy is an ambitious young activist and a Kenyan social entrepreneur who founded New Horizons Initiative, Inc. and Common Vocabulary: Shared understanding for global health Project, where he has had the opportunity to work with such luminaries as Jeffrey Sachs, Bill Clinton, and Matthew McConaughey. His life objective is to stimulate systemic and long-term change in Africa through education, strategic philanthropy, global social entrepreneurship, communications, sustainable tropical health, and institution building.
