UNICEF-OSU Hunger Banquet
This
Thursday (2/28) from 6pm-8pm, UNICEF-OSU will be having a Hunger Banquet! The event will be held in Mack Dining Room in Kennedy Commons!
The objectives of a banquet are:
* Understand the global disparity in food security
* Learn basic facts about world hunger
* Recognize the components of long-term food security
This will be a fun and informational event! Come get to know UNICEF-OSU!
You can help out by bringing a non-perishable food item to be donated to a local food pantry. If you have something to donate, that's great! If not, you're still welcome!!
The fight against hunger is furthered by every individual who works to make a positive change. Come learn how you can make a change!

Hi Seiko,
With such short notice I am not sure if there is really anything GHI can do to help out but I will definitely send along the information to our listserv. Let me know if there is anything else.

Hello.
My name is Seiko and I am the VP of UNICEF-OSU. I am emailing you because we are having a Hunger Banquet event on May 28th (Thur). We were wondering if Global Health Initiative would like to collaborate on this event!
Just to give you an overview of what a hunger banquet is... it is a demonstration that shows the disparity of class (upper, middle, lower) in the world. As people come to the event, we will split them in to groups to represent the classes. The lower class group will be over 50% of the people who attend and they will eat a small portion of rice and glass of water. The middle class will most likely eat pizza. The upper class which is about 10% will eat pasta, salad, coke, etc. We will have speakers to talk about different topics such as sanitation. The event will be free admission but we will suggest people to bring canned food items to be donated. The main purpose of this event is to raise awareness about issues of poverty in the world!
It would be wonderful if our organizations could come together for the great cause that we are fighting for!
I'm sorry this is so last minute. If you could get back to me asap, that would be wonderful!
Thank you and I hope to hear back from you,
Seiko Yamashita
