Hi ORA team,

Last year during the summer institute Jeff had helped me figure out a way to upload network data for multiple egocentric networks from a single csv file. We set the individual participant IDs as a date/time field in ORA and this allowed data to be pulled in as individual networks. I'm now trying to help a student do the same with her data but having some trouble. I had previously used ORA-PRO and she is using ORA-LITE. Do you think this is due to an ORA-PRO vs ORA-LITE problem? Or maybe I'm forgetting a step?

Thanks!
Jackie

Hi Jackie,

It should not be due to ORA-Lite versus Pro, since the main differences are the number of reports and a node limit of 2000 per nodeset.
You might be missing a step, or the software might have changed slightly between versions (intentionally or unintentionally!).
Are the Pro and Lite versions the same number?

Thanks,
Jeff

which version of ORA are you using - and try the ego-network report and look at the options on the side

Sorry for the delay. It looks like there was an update since I first did this last year. The version we are currently using is 3.09.142.

I made some progress, but still not quite there. I attached a picture of how my prior egocentric networks show up in ORA. We had pulled these in all from a single csv file by setting the participant (ego) IDs as a date field. I thought we had started by importing a table of node attributes and the adding network links but now the only way I can get the separate ego networks is by importing a table of network links first.

I did this by:
Data import wizard
Import Excel or text delimited files
Table of network links
Create a new meta-network
Select csv file to import
Set source and target node and link value
Set participant ID column as “Dates – Time periods”
Select “Create a dynamic meta-network with these options”

This gives me the separate ego networks again but now I can't figure out how to pull in the table of node attributes with characteristics of the egos and alters and get them to link with the correct network based on the participant ego ID "date" field. Any thoughts on this? Thank you!

Hi Jackie,

You should be able to use the Data Import Wizard method "Table of network links" and then after clicking Next choose to "Add to the existing meta-network".
Next, you will want to configure your page similar to what is below, noting that the main idea is that the attributes will be added to the nodes for the matching  time period meta-network.

Let me know if that works.
Thanks,
Jeff
