MathBio research group at the University of Nebraska at Omaha is
looking for a software developer/system admin. One of the projects of
MathBio centers around building a web application for building and
simulating mathematical models of various biological processes. The
software developer/system admin will be responsible for a range of
software development as well as server maintenance tasks. Required
knowledge and skills include software engineering, object-oriented
programming, and the knowledge of tools used in the development of web-
based applications. This position is also responsible for a range of
tasks associated with setting up and maintaining Linux-based web
servers, therefore skills in this area are also required.

This position will be available for period of 1 year with the
possibility of extension, depending on the performance and
availability of resources.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Platforms: Linux

Programming Languages: Strong knowledge of and experience in Java/J2EE
is required. C++ is desirable.

Web App Development: Experience with the development of object-
oriented Java web-applications is absolutely required. Deep
understanding of Computer Science & Software Engineering Principals.
HTML, CSS, Javascript, AJAX (Java ServerFaces experience preferred).
Experience with the Hibernate and Spring frameworks is preferred.

Databases: SQL, experience with MySQL is preffered.

System administration: Experience setting up Web servers, automated
back-up solutions. Overall Linux administration skills and experience
preferred.

Communication Skills: Ability to present project data (orally and
written). Ability to contribute to project meetings.

Other Skills: Ability to work in a team environment. Demonstrated
ability to multi-task as required. Ability to develop prototypes.
