Welcome violin makers!
This group is no longer very active. Please consider joining the Discord server.
Thank you for joining the OpenFab Violin Builder's Google group, but moreover, thank you for building a Modular Fiddle or F-F-Fiddle! You're one of a handful of people that's helping to democratize innovation and change the way we make musical instruments. In addition, you're helping to improve and spread the word about a new kind of fiddle that has the potential to bring some new ideas to fiddle construction and sound.

So what's the deal?
This is a group for discussion. Some of you have emailed me and I've sent you here because I want our conversation to be public. In addition, this Google Group is a huge source of information for anyone looking to design a 3D printed instrument. If you're new, here's what I would recommend:
  1. Post a picture of your F-F-Fiddle or Modular Fiddle (even if it's just the printed parts) in the Builds thread. Post as many and as detailed a picture as you can! I want to take a close look at all of your instruments to see how they printed, what colors you chose, and to bask in the glory of 3D printed violins.
  2. If you haven't already, please take a few minutes to answer the questions in my F-F-Fiddle Builder Survey. I will use the results of this survey to influence the direction of my future designs. Yeah, that's right, it's a big deal. If you built or are building a Modular Fiddle, this still applies, just pretend F-F-Fiddle says "Modular Fiddle." The survey results here influenced my design of the Modular Fiddle -- thank you!
  3. Have a question? Start a post. Anyone can start a new post.
A reminder...
The F-F-Fiddle and Modular Fiddle are licensed CC-BY-SA. This means that you may do WHATEVER YOU WANT with the design including commercial use. However, anytime you display the instrument, sell one, or otherwise present it to the world, please credit OpenFab PDX for the design and provide a link to my website: https://openfabpdx.com when possible.
