 I can not believe what you all did. You passed a very bad budget. What a money grab from the residents of Orange county North Carolina.  I guess I can believe it.

   Was this budget passed out of fear with looming constitutional changes coming in November. You bet it was. Not being able to raise property taxes for the following budget year , left all you in a predicament. Let's get all the taxpayer's dollars before it passes. You all have proven that you allowed the over spending of tax payer dollars. Read your own statements concerning the passage of the budget. You almost admit to it. No more property tax increases!! You heard the Residents repeat that statement.  The residents of Orange county North Carolina will remember what some of you have voted for.

Dear Lou Capitanio,

 

On behalf of the Orange County Board of Commissioners (BOCC), thank you for sharing your viewpoints about the county budget. We are dealing with a challenging fiscal environment with fewer investments by the state and federal governments. The BOCC tried to balance minimizing the property tax increase and funding county and school district capital investments, modest salary increases to recruit and retain county and school staff, and county services.

 

We are aware that efficiencies and improved partnerships must be found if we are to continue to provide the services many residents want and not raise property taxes.
