Dear Orange County Commissioners,

I am writing to express my wholehearted recommendation that the sheriff annex be named the Blackwood Building after Sheriff Charles Blackwood.

In a time when so many have lost confidence in law enforcementSheriff Blackwood remains respected and beloved by the citizens of Orange County. From dedicating his career to our community, he remains a true servant in his fourth term.

Thanks to Sheriff Blackwood, we not only feel safer in Orange County, but we also feel heard. Known for genuinely caring about the health and well-being of allSheriff Blackwood has inspired other leaders to face the hard issuesincluding race inequality, mental health, and substance abuse—and come together to resolve them. He is all about helping individuals and families receive the resources they need to reach their full potential.

All too often, we reserve our highest honors for those who can no longer receive them. With everything Sheriff Blackwood has given to our community, he should see his service recognized. Naming the annex after him would preserve his legacy for generations to come and allow him to witness it.

Most sincerely,

Tommy T McNeill
