Dear Orange County Commissioners:

Club Nova Community, Inc. which provides the evidence-based Clubhouse Model - a comprehensive, wrap-around approach with opportunities and supports for individuals living with serious mental illness - offers this letter to underscore our support for the Orange County Crisis Diversion Facility. As we are all aware, mental health has reached a level of public health crisis not only locally, but nationally and globally. Having the full spectrum of community based care is essential for the health and well being of our citizens who live with mental illness. This includes the diversion from the legal system including our courts, as well as diversion from the continued long waits in the UNC Emergency Departments. This facility, focused on mental health, will provide needed services in the continuum of care. This facility helps close the gaps and keeps individuals out of more restrictive, higher cost services.

It has been our understanding that this facility had the full support of the Orange County Commissioners. We urge you to fully support this facility to keep Orange County one of the best examples in our state of building a robust mental health continuum of care.

Thank you for your consideration.

Regards,

Karen Kincaid Dunn
