To the board of county commissioners:

I am an Orange County resident, and I have been providing high risk obstetric care in Orange County for 18 years. I am writing to urge you to move forward with funding construction of the Crisis Diversion Facility. Mental and behavioral health is a leading cause of morbidity and mortality for my pregnant and postpartum patients, and behavioral health emerged as a top priority for the residents of Orange County in the last Community Health Assessment. Moreover, complex mental illness is a major driver of county residents being unhoused, with significant consequences for individual and public health.

This facility is an urgently needed to meet the mental and behavioral health needs of the residents of Orange County.  I urge you to vote to fund this facility.

Sincerely,

Alison Stuebe, MD, MSc
