to OAYouth Entrepreneurship Portfolio Committee
Hello All
Hope you had a great long weekend.
I would like to thank everyone for attending on Saturday, and would
like to respond with follow-up action pertaining to the group in
paticipating in the planned projects for 2011.
As mentioned during the meeting on Saturday is that the committee is
dependent on the support and commitment from its members. The 1st
planned initiative for the year, excluding other active projects such
as the stock exchange training and Petchey programmes are as follow:
National Priority Skills Projects
As mentioned during the meeting is that Desto the company I work for
is very strategically placed in terms of offering training, it is with
this that I would like to use Desto as a vehicle in order for the
Organisation to obtain funding to roll out workshops in
entrepreneurship (SMME Development).
I would like to see from the group that possible canidates who would
like to present these workshops submit CVs, this will help us
determine internally what skills we have and those that we do not
have, this may be marketing, operations, business, finance, etc. The
envisaged project for the committee will consist of firstly training
those candidates so that they would be able to present the workshops.
Remember I said that we want to see that the people we train get
recognised certificates for attending these workshops, so in order to
do this, the interested candidates will first need to be trained in
what the NQF (National Qualifications Framework) is, who and what SAQA
(South African Qualifications Authority) is and all the rest of the
training lingo.
Once we have completed this training, the canidates will be able to
present the workshops, given the recognition of certification at the
end of the workshop. The proposal I mentioned will be published on the
group site this week for comment by all members. The proposal in
summary will apply for funding to train these facilitators and then
work on a cost per workshop, my intent is that we maybe make use of
the FET campuses in your surrounding areas as the proposed training
venues, and then scheduling 4-5 workshops per month on a Saturday,
however all of this will be detailed in the proposal.
Our request for CVs are also linked to which areas we will be able to
present workshops, I know that we have a strong presence in the
Eastern Cape, Gauteng, Limpopo, Mpumalanga, however my knowledge is
limited to these provinces? If we can identify or through the CVs
determine also in which other provinces we could present training this
would again benefit our stance as an organisation, nationally.
We are asking everyone's support in this project and further in the
committee's activities, and would also like to request suggestions
from members for the committee. So please, your commitment and support
is crucial to making this a reality.
Regards,
Mart Meyer
