Come join us for a free pizza from Slice of Life and a screening of the important film: A Delicate Balance.

A Delicate Balance (84 minutes), by Australian film-maker Aaron Scheibner, is the startling new documentary which continues where Al Gore left off. This film dispels destructive myths about what it takes to be healthy and what is our true relationship to the natural world. Nominated for Best Unreleased Documentary by the Australian Film Critics Association, this film is a must-see for those who care about our planet and the life it supports.

About the Dry Creek Kitchen Victory:
PAL (People for Animal Liberation) and some of our members in conjuction with IDA (In Defense of Animals) have been peacefully demonstrating for the last 6 weeks, trying to get Dry Creek Kitchen restaurant to stop serving foie gras. On Friday, November 5th, the manager came out to inform protesters that they decided to remove foie gras from their menu for compassionate reasons! GREAT JOB, TEAM!

We'd like to extend a huge thank you to PAL, IDA and all the protesters that made this happen, including Jasmine, Pinky, Barbara, Lisa and Suzy. The Ducks and Geese thank you too!

About Foie Gras:
Foie gras is french for: "fatty liver" and it's production is incredibly cruel. Ducks and sometimes geese are force-fed enormous amounts of food several times a day by having a metal pipe literally rammed down their throats, so the food goes directly into their gullets. In a matter of weeks, the ducks become grossly overweight and their livers expand up to 10 times their normal size. Some consider foie gras a 'delicacy' but we think anyone who knows how it's made will just see it as a sick and twisted way of treating our animal brothers and sisters.

Please join us for our annual Thanksgiving potluck. This event is always well attended and a lot of fun. Remember, you don't have to be vegan or vegetarian to attend.

Please bring a vegan dish to share. Vegan simply means no animal products — no meat, dairy, eggs or honey. If you can, please also bring your own plate, cup, fork and spoon. Also, please don't wear any perfumes or strong smelling deodorants or aftershaves. Some of our members are sensitive to such fragrances and have requested this be a "scent-free" event.
