Subject: Redwood Seedling Reforestation Project. We need your help.

Dear Bradley,

On behalf of Forest Unlimited, I hope you and your friends can assist us in this year’s planting project.  We really appreciated your help last January at Saint Dorothy’s Rest and can really use your help again this January 8th or 9th.

Please review the attached flyers.  I have reprinted the first attachment below just in case you are unable to open Microsoft Word.

As stated in the attached flyers, we really appreciate the courtesy of a reply because we have to plan for the lunches and planting supplies.  Also, please let us know if you are vegetarian or vegan so we may best prepare an appropriate meal for you.

Sincerely yours,

Carl Wahl

Volunteers needed to help plant on beautiful Sonoma County land.

This January, Forest Unlimited will be planting 1,600 two-year old bare root redwood seedlings for reforestation and erosion control at Shone Farm (the agricultural educational facility of SRJC).  We will additionally be planting 600 live oak seedlings on this 300 acre public property.  The only thing we are in short supply of are volunteers to help plant the trees.  Supervised children are welcome.

Forest Unlimited is a 14-year old 501(c)(3) non-profit corporation headquartered in Cazadero.  Its mission is to protect, enhance, and restore the forests and watersheds of Sonoma County.  Please visit our website at www.forestunlimited.org.

The planting dates are on Friday, January 8th and Saturday, January 9th.  On each day, we will rendezvous at 8:30 a.m. at the entrance to Shone Farm (located about 1-mile north of River Road at the intersection of East Side Road and Trenton Healdsburg Road). The morning session will end at around 12:30 and the afternoon session will end around 4:30 p.m.  We could use your help, even if you can plant for only half of one day.  All equipment and a free indoor lunch, including drinks and snacks, will be provided.  Vegetarian food will also be available.

The seedlings average about 18-inches in height and are not difficult to plant.  These trees will be “forever protected.”

Due to planning for lunches and supplies, we need to here from you.  To sign up and/or to ask any questions, please contact us:  Carl Wahl, at 874-9268 or mcw...@poetworld.net, Bob Nelson at 874-1740 or at ebne...@sonic.net, Rick Coates, Forest Unlimited Executive Director, at 632-6070 or rco...@sonic.net, and Larry Hanson, Forest Unlimited Board President, at 887-7433 or kiml...@comcast.net.

Further information regarding directions, appropriate attire, etc. can be found in the attached “Supplemental Volunteer Information” flyer.

Please tell your friends, and thanks.
