My dad sent me an interesting 60 Minutes piece on how the Millennials
have radical new expectations of the workplace. They overgeneralize a
bunch of stuff, but it's an interesting report:

That is very interesting. I work at a College and I clearly see some
of this in the students around here. Especially as it relates to the
overinvolved parents. I also see some of the traits in myself which I
am not quite certain if that is scary or not.
So, what do you do with this?

Surprisingly, I had a conversation about exactly this (not the piece,
but the expectations of Millennials) today.

Small survey... If someone told you (as a Millennial) that you needed
to "grow-up" and learn a little bit about how business is run, how
would you respond?

I'm lame when it comes to these kinds of questions, because I'd want to know more.

Again, I think there's a lot of generalization. There are plenty of Millennials who happily integrate themselves into the "typical" corporate culture.

And I also think Millennials are coming into a working world that's very different from their parents. Nowadays, I think, there's a lot less loyalty between employee and employer. Employees play the field and some switch jobs every 18 months to boost their salaries, and employers cut swaths of employees at a moment's notice.

So some Millennials, I think, are looking at their relationships with their employers in a different light.
