Given the current conversation among the membership, I wanted to share this with you all.

Also, I saw this morning that Sen. Rubio pulled his sponsorship of SOPA.

Here's Ted's statement on SOPA... can you please spread the word far and wide via blog, Facebook, Twitter, etc. (Note it has a petition component attached.)  Thank you!

Stop SOPA

By Ted Cruz

Stop SOPA. We can all agree that stealing intellectual property online or elsewhere is wrong, but SOPA and Protect IP bills are the wrong solutions to stop it. These bills threaten free speech and damage liberty. Needless to say, the Internet has transformed the way people receive and exchange information, and opened new doors for the sharing of ideas. The amazing innovations online are a product of a market relatively free of government regulation. In fact, the web is an example for the wider economy — that we should not trade innovation and vibrancy for stifling regulation.

PS.

I have also blogged that Senate Republicans are opposing SOPA here:
http://www.patmcguinness.org/?p=108
... and Cantor and Darrell Issa have said SOPA is DOA in the House for now.

This is good for Republicans. They need to be on the liberty / tech industry side, rather than
Hollywood-special-interests-RIAA side.

See you on Friday.

Patrick
