Ahead of our big block-walking push this weekend, local state house candidates Robert Thomas and Paul Workman stopped in for lunch.

Paul Workman, and Robert Thomas came to the Austin Tech Republicans lunch, Friday, September 21 to tell us about their campaigns. Paul is running for re-election as state representative for District 47. Robert seeks to serve as the new rep in District 48.

Robert Thomas has been walking his district block by block since May and the yard signs in support of his campaign reflect his popularity in the district. Back in 2006, the incumbant, Democrat Donna Howard won by a landslide 76% of the vote; but she took the seat in the 2008 general election with 54% of the vote; and then she only tallied 48.5% in 2010. Based on primary turnouts, the district has 20,000 Republicans, 37,000 Democrats, and 44,000 independents. In many of the households, the voting adults are attracted to different parties. Robert's uphill race is clearly winnable.

State Rep Paul Workman (R-47)has the endorsements of Greg Abbott and Rick Perry, as well as the mayors of Lakeway, The Hills, Briarcliff, Bee Cave, Volente, and Cedar Park. He has been recognized by the Texas Alliance for Life, and the National Rifle Association, and the Texas Association of Business.
