We're meeting this Friday from 11:30-1.
La Madeleine's, Arboretum
next door to Poke-E-Jo's, 183 @ Great Hills Trail.
Patrick McGuinness will give a "SXSW Review" presentation.
Patrick will share some of the interesting things that came out of SXSW interactive - in technology, e.g, new gadgets like Leap motion, Ouya game console, virtual reality; review social media trends, and the (surprising?) lack of real new 'it' social media platforms; death of blogging; location rising and NFC nearer; Big Data, Civic Data, and the end of privacy; Wolfram's Alpha and semantic; Theil's Great Divide - determinism vs statistics; and other trends and ideas and implications for politics, culture and society.
Patrick is currently CTO at the Austin-based startup Engine -
http://engine.co - that provides data intelligence for email communications.
BTW, the plan is to defer the "what's next in social media and political technology?" to April.
