Patrick McGuinness will give a "SXSW Review" presentation.

Patrick will share some of the interesting things that came out of SXSW interactive - in technology, e.g, new gadgets like Leap motion, Ouya game console,  virtual reality; review social media trends, and the (surprising?) lack of real new 'it' social media platforms; death of blogging; location rising and NFC nearer; Big Data, Civic Data, and the end of privacy;  Wolfram's Alpha and semantic; Theil's Great Divide - determinism vs statistics; and other trends and ideas and implications for politics, culture and society.

Patrick is currently CTO at the Austin-based startup Engine - http://engine.co - that provides data intelligence for email communications.

BTW, the plan is to defer the "what's next in social media and political technology?" to April.

... just a note about seating.

We do not have a reserved room for this. That worked out well enough last month at ZuZu, which is small and open and even the patio seating is easy to see from the inside.  La Madeleine is trickier, more crowded, more places to be seated. Patrick will be there early (11:00 AM) to secure our space.
