Hello environmental community!
The EPA recently made big announcements for the San Jacinto River Waste Pits. First, they will propose their clean-up remedy 5 months earlier than anticipated- the proposal will now come this July! Second, the EPA used their executive authority to take over the feasibility study from the responsible parties! Victory! That is certainly something worth celebrating! Third, they announced that the general public can now submit comments for review by the Nation Remedy Review Board this June. However, they have only given us until May 20 (THIS FRIDAY) to submit comments. I am looking to mobilize canvas crews this Wednesday and Thursday in East Harris County. Please pass this email to anyone who may be interested in helping canvas or circulating an electronic petition or letter. We are up against well funded and well organized propaganda groups but with an environmental community like ours, I'm hoping we can combat the faulty efforts taking place!
Sincerely,
Jackie Young
