Today is International Women's Day, but it is also part CERAWeek, of one of the most important conferences for the international hydrocarbon industrial complex https://ceraweek.com/about-ceraweek/
Servants & promoters of extreme energy extraction from around the world have gathered in Houston so they can talk about "the future of the energy industry" without ever acknowledging the communities already becoming climate refugees. They'll have breakout sessions on 'the price of fracking' without once mentioning the harm it has on reproductive health, or how the industry's Man-Camps have contributed to the murder & disappearance of indigenous women.
So at lunch today, we will gather outside their conference to name the misogynistic violence being planned there, and to honour the other victims of our deadly colonial, patriarchal, white supremacist system, from Texas' SB6 bathroom police bill to the health harms caused by fracking to Ciara McElveen, Chyna Gibson, and Jaquarrius Holland- the 3 black transwomen killed in Louisiana just last week.
When: 11am-noon, Wed March 8th
What to bring: Your enthusiasm & maybe some water- we'll have signs & a banner
