Wii sales pull away from Xbox 360 in Japan

Sales for Nintendo Co.'s Wii pulled away from Microsoft Corp.'s Xbox
360 in Japan after a tight hardware race the week prior.
Media Create Co. on Fri. reported that the Wii sold 29,921 units
between Sept. 15 and Sept. 21.
By comparison, the Xbox 360 sold 13,777 units in the same period.
The week prior, the Wii barely outsold the 360 following a Xbox price
cut and the release of key RPG titles.
Wii ranked two titles in the top 10 Japan game sales, including Wii
Fit at No. 6 and Mario Kart Wii at No 10.
Nintendo in Sept. said that the Wii ranked as the No. 2 game hardware
in Aug. according to NPD Group Inc.
To date sales the Wii have reached nearly 12 million units in the
U.S.
