I just joined too, and am trying to find the WEP Key to play online. I
have a Windows PC, and my ip is 192.168.1.3, and when I type it in to
the search bar I get pages about the Linkys or something. I tried the
more common ips and nothing worked. Also, how many digits are in the
WEP Key. It may be on the router.

If you're trying to access your router/gateway page, look for the
"Default Gateway" IP in your connection status dialog. Then key that
IP into your browser address bar.

There are several kinds of WEP keys, but normally it'll 26 characters
long (for hexadecimal key) or 13 characters long (for ASCII key). Less
common is 10 characters long (for hexadecimal key) or 5 characters
long (for ASCII key).

From my understanding, the Nintendo DS connects using Wireless B
network. Thus, make sure that your wireless router/gateway supports
and uses Wireless B. Note that Wireless B has a shorter range than
Wireless G.

Also in some (all?) cases, the wireless router/gateway has to use WEP
shared instead of WEP open.

If you are able to see the linksys wireless router in from the DS
(when you tap Search for Available networks) there should be a little
lock. It's either opened or locked. If it's opened, then you don't
need a WEP key. If it's locked then the WEP key is in the router,
just log into the router and go wireless settings. You need help
logging into your linksys router? linksys.com will help.

The DS needs your router to communicate on B so set the router up for
B & G communication. The router could be communicating on G only--so
make sure. Also, the it's open -- not shared.

Nintendo has really good info on their help files. I think it's
nintendowifi.com
