Nintendo Denies New DS Model

Some rumors were flying around about a new DS design appearing at this
year's E3. Nintendo stamps on them.

"We cannot comment on the specifics of what will be announced at
E3, but at the very least there won't be anything like what Mr.
Hamamura suggested, so would like to clearly deny this. We're having a
hard time understanding what kind of evidence [Mr. Hamamura] had for
saying this."

Perhaps we won't be seeing it at E3, but it's certainly no denial of a
new model being in development. Considering Nintendo's history of
rereleasing systems with new designs and features, as well as how much
of an absolute success the DS and DS Lite have been in Japan and world
wide, it'd be surprising if they weren't.

Why would they release a new DS? when the sales from the current one are still so strong. I think when the DS Lite sales start waning then they will pick a release date. Or...they DO release a new DS and knock a few bucks off the current one to keep its sales strong. Who knows.
