reception for “TEMPORARY CONSTRUCTIONS", NEW PHOTOGRAPHS BY STIRLING
ELMENDORF AND MARK PARASCANDOLA. Show runs November 12 through

In conjunction with FotoWeek DC, Nevin Kelly Gallery, located at 1517
U Street, NW, Washington, DC will host a two-artist exhibition of
works by Washington, DC area photographers Stirling Elmendorf and Mark
Parascandola. The show will run from November 12 through November 23,
2008. The gallery will host an opening reception on Thursday, November
13 from 6 until 9 o’clock p.m. The public is invited.
The exhibition, titled "Temporary Constructions", will showcase new
photographs by Stirling Elmendorf and Mark Parascandola highlighting
architectural changes over time in Washington, DC and elsewhere by
juxtaposing images of contemporary monumental architecture with those
of time-worn abandoned structures.
Gallery director Nevin J. Kelly explains “city-wide celebrations such
as FotoWeek DC are an important show of support for the visual arts
and help solidify Washington's position as an art city. We are
pleased to present new works by Mark Parascandola and Stirling
Elmendorf, two very talented local photographers who subtly alter
their urban landscape photographs to capture not only the visual look
of a place, but its mood as well. They have cooperated for FotoWeek to
prepare a two-artist exhibition that shares a single common vision.”
"Temporary Constructions" will be on view in the gallery from November
12 until November 23, 2008. The opening reception is on Thursday,

attendance.
