· What ethically do you have to consider
· What is your duty of care to all of your students.
· What are your rights and responsibilities within an open and
networked learning environment?

Surrender the role of teacher - work as a group - this takes out number 2 at least.

The "what" bit is a bit limiting.

I would be keen more to think of this whole thing as a who, what,
where, why, when kind of scenario. A good teacher in my opinion seeks
ways to guide learner without the walking cane.

I'm appalled that the best we can do is re-badge learning every year
and come out with some other way of saying exactly the same thing. My
rights in a networked learning environment?

Sounds like the BLF is going to arrive any minute and break in on our
clandestine union meeting. Our rights are governed by our own code of
ethics, our workplace policies and guidelines, our peer reveiws and
eventually our own impending sense of mortality.

Mostly we act out of fear of punishment so the higher the ground we
tread in our musings the further we have to fall to reality. No harm in
trying though.......the early adopters need thicker skin to endure the
above.

Have some great teachers from the THED group coming in today, want to
garner their common sense wisdom based on their teaching experience. To
move forward I'm going to focus on gathering the thoughts of others on
the postivies and negativies rights and responsibilities of teaching in
an open networked environment.

Professionally we must look at two issues.

1.What are the implications of open network on the learning of
students?
2. What are the implications for the working conditions of our fellow
teachers?

At present our teaching and learning workplace has a natural barrier of
student enrolement. If the student is not enrolled they dont
participate. Our responsibility and duty of care is directly linked to
students who have show an interest and motivation to gain not just
knowledge but a qualification. Our other responsibility is to our work
colleagues and developing a professional relationship.

If for example that the teachers personal or professional status is
going to be effected by a student, teacher or other then we must have
guidelines to listen to grivances and deal with unaccepable behaviour.

At present I cant see that the behaviour and respect we give students
and colleagues (and expect in return) should be any different in a
classroom or on line.

If my workplace is on line or face to face I expect an environment that
is free from harrassement, discrimination and abuse.

I cant see that these are any different online or in my current
workplace.

Good call Rlon.

Neither face-to-face nor online should be differing when it comes to
these issues.
