Hi everyone. Nonschloae (please someone tell me hw to
pronounce that?) has been awful quiet for a while, but
with DOPA on the rise maybe we could put something
out? It's an excellent oppertunity to raise profile
and get more people on board too.

--Agree, although there is no manifesto yet, it's an reactive political
issue, and my common sense tells me to advocate conservatism in what we
advocate to counter the climate of fear about children using web2.0 I
see promulgated in mainstream media. The smh published this at weeked:
The SMH posted this in ICON at
http://www.smh.com.au/news/web/guards-for-the-cyber-playground/2006/07/26/1153816248593.html
'some of the risks children expose themselves to in an online world
that offers as many dangers as it does advantages.'
'The Federal Government is trying to minimise the risks associated with
internet surfing and announced last month that it will spend $93
million on providing free content filtering software to families.
Another $16 million will be spent on awareness campaigns.'
Am getting together with a group of students today, setting up a blog
and flickr account, will ask them what they think about the risks, what
they think should be in a charter, manifesto. Am more interested in
their voice on what is acceptible not what I think, and in particular
will ask them about your post to THED.
I can just imagine the raised eyebrows from the title of the post
alone...is is appropriate to post?I don't think so but have seen no
objection from the group, I do think you could have chosen something
else in that it does not help with the perception of others who are
weary of the the big bad open internet and won't get the article on
getting laid, with web2.0 ahem in an educational context ;-). But with
the beauty of networked learnig I discovered some info about digital
rights in ireland from the blog.

How to use Google to get a girl and get laid How to use Google to get

This one will appeal to teenagers and probably lots of adults as well.
It is
a good hook that I could possibly use to discuss the idea of an online
profile. It links in with the Netsafety theme.
