why does netflix always stop (online viewing) whenever "internet speed connection slows down"

Just subscribed to netflix a couple of hours ago. Wanted to view
movies online via my mac. Got interrupted about 10 times bec of "slow
internet connection". But netflix never told me that this might
happen. Do you think this is their fault?
